Cazza, I am pleased you are being referred to a neuro. I hope it will come quickly. I am in the same position as you, have to see the neuro as they think I have MS as well. I have had episodes of collapsing and had a time where I could not be left on my own at all. I know how it makes you feel, please speak to the gp about help. Social services can arrange nursey places for your child and they cover the cost. Maybe try CAB about benefits you are entitled to. I am thinking of you. Just remember this disease has ups and downs, it will improve.

OH I am so so sorry to hear this Caz but thank God you're seeing a specialist and will have a proper dx. I know it is incredibly hard to face but not knowing is worse.
Everything you have ever written shows you're a wonderful Mam who adores her children. It is just NOT fair you have all this terrible suffering.
We will keep you very close in our prayers and I am sure your husband will be right there to support you and help.

Cazza, you are not a useless mum, you are putting their needs first in all of this. I hope you get an appt to see the neurologist quickly, so your mind can be put at rest. The balance problems could well be caused by Menieres disease, which is very treatable. My mum had this and she was fine with treatment. I get balance problems where I can suddenly lurch over, but I think mine is something different from yours.

Morning!! Just trying to catch up with 'life on the forum' after my long absence and was saddened to read your post. Please don't ever think you are a poor mum! You are a wonderful mum coping with a very difficult disease and now with the added worries of the possibility of MS. I haven't been in your position but as others have said your symptoms could relate to a number of conditions. Your referral to a neurologist is good news and will at least set your mind at rest. I hope your appointment comes through soon and you are not kept waiting indefinitely. Worth bearing in mind that the stress you are going through at this time could unwittingly be adding to your problems so try to stay calm, easy for me to say I know, but stress can be a a real bummer in itself! Do let us know how you are feeling. Take care and get plenty of rest whenever you can. Make a brew and put your feet up for 10 minutes!! Thinking of you, Lyn x

if it is MS the drugs out there now are wonderful
I was very scared when I first found out I also have MS but talking to people (with the same illness) soon made me realise there is life after MS
I know what you are going through but I still will say it try not to worry too much

RA realy bad at the moment having really bad flare up bed bound.I was watching tv with my husband last night and my hands went nunb then my feet then all of my body and i had slurred speach so he phoned nhs direct and they phoned an ambulance this was 12.30 when i got to hospital they thought i had a stroke but then the feeling started to come back i still have left side weakness.They said as i had an appointment in 3 days i could discuss this with mu rheumatiologist and then they asked me to walk that was a joke because at home i use a frame or crutches so they found me a fame i wlaked 6 steps then say on a chair and they said you can go home so i had to ask for some crutches .i was dressed in my pj and dressing gown and slippers as mu husband could not leave the children as they were in bed so at 2.30 in the morning in my dressing gown i had to get a taxi home which cost me £17 i could not believe it .Today i am very tired and still weak on my left side so i have just laid about doing nothing or slepping .There that feels better to get that of my chest i just hope i get some answers on tuesday as on of the doctors thinks its definatly MS as i described all of my symptoms and all the falls i have had latley i fell i Tesco last week the staff in there were brilliant.Wwell thats enough of my antics and moaning thanks for reading if you do as i feel so alone i spend most of my life in my house or bed were i feel safe please help thanks x x x

Goodness ... that must have been really scary for you!
Doesn't sound like you had a very good experience at the hospital what with having to organise your own frame and crutches. Then a trip home in the taxi.
Are you seeing the neurologist on Tuesday? Let's hope you'll get some answers then. It's certainly a lot going on and must be very concerning for you.
Get loads of rest and take it easy until Tuesday and don't forget to let us know how you get on!

You must have been very scared with all the numbness and slurred speech.

I'm horrified at the treatment you got at the hospital!
I had a frightening experience last august when the left side of my face went numb- I went to A&E. They suspected a stroke and kept me in for a couple of hours while they ran a lot of tests- I was very impressed with them and the fact that they took it seriously. Thankfully it wasn't and they coudn't reach any conclusions as to what had caused it. About a month later I was having dizzy spells and my blood pressure rocketed.The GP decided it was viral, but also prescibed meds to bring the blood pressure down. He seemed to think it was a combination of stress, RA and the after effects of an infection I picked up on holiday through an insect bite, which had got into my bloodstream. About the same time, the RA was flaring madly.
I ope that things get sorted out for you on Tuesday- meanwhille- try and have a good rest.

I have been here many times before Im sad to say.
If you are young, with a chronic condition (especially RA or other rheumatology condition) they will send you home. There are no beds for people like us in most hospitals- it is all elderly care, hearts, lungs and cancer here. In the night they tend to have all the inexperienced drs on there who dont know about these things for a start and assume that because you are young, that you are self care etc. They have NEVER asked me or done any assessments about coming home. It is wrong and appauling.
You need to know something- you have a RIGHT to a bed. No bugger can chuck you off it, refuse. Another time say Im not going home without proper investigation and seeing a specialist. I hate having to do this but sometimes you need to.
Go straight back to that A and E. I feel all angry again about this disgusting age discrimination because if you were 80 there is no way on Gods earth they would have discharged you. AAAAAAAAAAGH!

Cazza, I have to say, I am horrified that you sent you home. I hope the rheumy can help you on Weds. It is very scary having thoose symptoms and it does make you worry about leaving the house, let alone RA as well. You are never alone on here, we are all here to listen. Insist on some proper help from your rheumy.

Oh Cazza - this is a total disgrace and I agree with what everyone has said.
I just hope and pray that you will get some answers on Tuesday - please, don't leave until you are satisfied that everything possible has been done and that you have said everything you need to say, asked all your questions etc. Maybe you should write everything down to make sure you don't get rushed through.
